"Ukraine participated both in the Second World War, and in the Great Patriotic War", - stated Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commenting upon the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War.
"To appraise the events in Ukraine in this complicated period adequately and justly, one must trespass the limits of discussion whether it was a Second World War or a Great patriotic War for Ukraine", - stated M.Tomenko.
"The problem is the following: Ukrainians that lived in different regions of the country had different historic prerequisites to their participation in the war. Everyone had their own motives, standpoint and principles, but the crucial point is that everyone protected their Motherland and native land first and foremost", - he stated.
"Unfortunately, there is no sole truth and solely right appraisal of the said events in the Ukrainian nation devoid of its own State at that time", - stressed the Vice-Chairman.
